NOTE: This is a TERM appointment (not-to-exceed 1 year and 1 day). Term appointments are non-status, nonpermanent appointments of limited duration (more than 1 year but not more than 4). Term employees are eligible to earn leave and generally have the same benefits as permanent employees including health and life insurance, within-grade increases and Federal Employees Retirement System and Thrift Savings Plan coverage. Term appointments may be extended without further competition (up to the 4 year maximum). The appointment to a Term position does not confer eligibility for promotion or reassignment to other positions or the ability to be non-competitively converted to permanent employment.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • The position is fully responsible to manage clinical tests and collect data, recruit, and manage subjects for clinical trials and provide high level technical support of projects in a comprehensive research setting, providing day-to-day support for the VA Research Program.
  • Makes recommendation to update established practices and procedures when indicated.
  • The position is fully responsible to ensure database development, coordination, and technical management in a comprehensive research setting, providing day-to-day data management and site support for the VA Research Program.
  • The position provides a high level of technical knowledge and performs a variety of complex tasks related to the conduct of the research including participant recruitment and enrollment, protocol execution, data reporting and management and regulatory compliance.
  • The position may be assigned to one or more clinical research studies and functions under the overall direction of the Principal Investigator (Pl) and/or other research specific leadership.
  • The position will collect and analyze data, educate, and interact with study participants and leadership, and provide the PI with detailed and summary information and recommendations for further actions based on the data analysis.
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday - 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Qualifications

To apply for this position, you must have the following qualifications:

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Must have a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. Note: You must provide a copy of your transcripts to receive consideration.

AND

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically related to the work of the position. Specialized experience includes managing clinical tests and collecting data, recruiting, and managing human subjects for clinical trials and providing technical support of projects in a research setting, providing day-to-day support for a Research Program.

OR

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree with a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. Note: You must provide a copy of your transcripts to receive consideration.

OR

COMBINATION OF BOTH EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience (as stated above) may be used to meet total experience requirements. Only graduate level education in excess of 1 year may be combined with experience. Note: You must provide a copy of your transcripts to receive consideration.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary with occasional walking, standing, and handling and carrying items such as paper and books. There may be occasion needs to assist study participants with mobility to study location(s). Some travel will be required.

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
