The purpose of the position is to utilize the knowledge and application of painter trade practices.
Being a Coast Guard Civilian makes you a valuable member for the Coast Guard team.
Typical work assignments include: -Preparing metal surfaces for coating by dry and wet abrasive blasting, grinding with abrasive disks and wheels, chemical stripping methods and by pickling or through controlled oxidation. -Preparing fiber reinforced plastic surfaces by filling, shaping and abrasive sanding. -Preparing masonry surfaces by mechanical and abrasive blasting methods. -Preparing wood surfaces by filling and sanding. -Mixing and applying standard coatings such as enamels, latex emulsions, varnishes and lacquers by brush, roller, air, or airless spray methods. -Developing coatings of proper color, texture and consistency; adjusting hue, intensity and tone to match existing color schemes.
