Duties

Help

  • Provide engineering expertise to logistics and sustainment operations and transformation consistent with engineering policy and processes. Standardized application of system engineering processes to logistics and sustainment within and across AFMC Centers.
  • Guide and apply Policies, procedures, and approaches established by AMFC in areas related to Logistics technical activities
  • Ensure Directorate technical activities are linked to and supported by Logistics and Engineering Strategy.
  • Tentatively (pre-decisional) serves as Decision Authority for the Functional Requirements Board over sustaining engineering software capabilities. i.e. EN IT FRB
  • Provide support, advice, and coordination on Engineering and Logistics activities, as required.
  • Focus on life-cycle system engineering, Operational, Safety, Suitability & Effectiveness (OSS&E) and engineering and technical workforce management.
  • Focus on policy support for acquisition logistics planning of newly fielded systems and product support for existing system in addition to its five primary responsibilities: maintenance, supply, readiness, quality, and nuclear.
  • The Engineering Matrix Division Chief and Logistics Technical Director will ensure joint participation in Integrated Process Teams (IPT) and meetings, as appropriate.
  • Ensure that all Logistics staff packages and briefings with engineering content are coordinated with Engineering as appropriate.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Individual Occupational Requirements for All Professional Engineering Positions, 0800, and Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Professional and Scientific Positions.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-03, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-13 or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include experience applying fundamental and diversified professional engineering concepts, theories, and practices to achieve engineering objectives with versatility, judgement, and perception; adapting and applying methods and techniques of related scientific disciplines; and organizing, analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating scientific data in the solution of engineering programs. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
