Summary

This position is assigned to the Recreation Branch (N922); Fleet Readiness Division (N92); Fleet and Family Readiness Department (N9), Commander, Navy Region Hawaii (CNRH). Incumbent serves as an Operations Assistant (Marketing), and assists in the production and distribution of printed materials and performs a wide variety of deliveries and installations.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates motor vehicles such as cargo vans, to transport, deliver, load/unload mail, packages, personnel and materials to and from various locations primarily throughout Hampton Roads.
  • Performs routine maintenance on delivery vehicles to include putting in gas, maintaining cleanliness, trip reporting, and monthly maintenance checks at the Auto Hobby Shop.
  • Establishes and maintains continuous liaison with sponsorship division to ensure the contractual obligations outlined in advertising agreements are fulfilled through the execution of considerations, such as banner placement and completion of evaluation to include photos.
  • Takes photographs and maintains computer files in accordance with sponsorship standards for After Action Reports.
  • Reproduces copies in accordance with requests to include illustrations, posters, flyers and instructions using various copiers as directed. Makes vinyl signs, places lettering and laminating as requested.
  • Prepares and packages printed materials, including collating, organizing, wrapping and/or boxing and delivering printed materials.
  • Assists with the production of flyers, posters and other promotional materials using computer, copiers, and other equipment noted above.
  • Assists with documents and filing, including work requests, incoming and outgoing correspondence, etc.
  • Assists with answering the phone and greeting/assisting customers.
  • Responds to routine inquiries and refers messages.
  • Receives marketing, sponsorship and advertising materials for the purpose of delivery/installation. Enters details in appropriate log, tracks work requests to ensure timely delivery/installation, and closes out requests upon completion.

  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete background investigation - National Agency Check with Written Inquiries (NACI), upon hiring and renew every 5 years.
  • Must be able to work varied work schedules to include holidays, weekends and evenings.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Must participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Transfer.

Qualifications

Knowledge Required by the Position:

  • Knowledge of copying, packaging, shipping.
  • Knowledge of media and types of printing equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety rules and regulations and other posted rules for moving vehicles, and how to properly load the vehicle.
  • Knowledge of reporting requirements and procedures applicable for preparation of records and log sheets.
  • Knowledge of driver's maintenance requirements and procedures for the vehicle being driven.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles in order to deliver mail, packages, and/or personnel.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain records, compile and organize data for reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Guidelines and Complexity:
  • Guidelines consist of text, published standard procedure and general instructions. Tasks are generally repetitive and any new or unusual situation is referred to the supervisor for initial guidance. The duties of this position consist of general routine technical tasks. Where specific guidance has not been given, or is not addressed in guidelines, the incumbent must consult the supervisor for instruction.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
  • The work is usually performed in a copy shop setting with adequate heating, cooling and lighting. Much of the time will be spent our of the office in varying degrees of hot, cold or inclement weather to deliver materials. The work requires long periods of driving/sitting, a moderate amount of walking, and some standing while operating equipment. Light lifting of delivery mateirals is also required.

Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.
