Summary

This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), Jimmy Carter Presidential Library. This position serves as a visitor services representative and a sales store clerk at the Library. This position handles online ticketing, admissions, responds to visitor inquiries, shows orientation film, makes sales of merchandise at the museum sales store desk, and performs a variety of clerical duties in support of onsite activities.

Duties

Help

As a Sales Store Clerk, you will:

  • Record sales of admission and merchandise with cash register, make change, prepare sales slips, and handle charge card transactions and check payments following cash control office guidelines.
  • Assure that visitor attendance records are properly dated and categorized by paid or free admission, guided or non-guided tour, public programs admission, or school group admission.
  • Respond to oral and written inquiries concerning hours of operations, admission fees, merchandise, prices, sales store operations, visitor questions, as well as furnishing information about the museum's exhibits, library operations, and historic site.
  • Assist in performing the physical inventory of sales store merchandise.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: For the GS-04, you may qualify with one year of general experience. General experience for this position includes:

  • One full year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

OR

  • EDUCATION: You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: Completion of 2 years above high school.

OR

  • COMBINATION: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.

  • The incumbent will be performing tours and speaking to large audiences.
  • Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday through Saturday. The incumbent's work schedule will include weekends and occasional evenings.
