Help
  • Maintains authority for the certification (IAW all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ) of all ATC electronic navigational aids, RADAR systems, communication systems and automation systems .
  • Resolves critical issues independently and has the authority to stop the use of any ATC system not providing advertised services, in support of the NAS and Army aviation.
  • Maintains all of the latest digital ATC equipment available, such as (1) Standard Terminal Automation Display System (STARS), (2) Digital Airport Surveillance Radar System ASR-11 (DASR), etc.
  • Evaluates and determines if equipment/systems/services are within prescribed FAA and Army standards and tolerances by performance of system analytics.
  • Oversee ATC systems installation, evaluation, maintenance, modification, flight inspection, certification and operator familiarization on fixed base ATC fielded systems.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Position requires occasional overtime work to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • This position is designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) must report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Position requires occasional overtime work to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Successful completion of the resident and non-resident maintenance and certification courses for supported ATC systems in order to accomplish rapid repair without trial and error methodologies and without damaging expensive ATC systems is required.
  • Successful completion training, OJT and certification requirements (as required) to maintain a minimum of 1 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Category III, 17 FAA Category II and numerous FAA Category I ATC Systems simultaneously.
  • This position has a Temporary duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15 % of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Installing and maintaining Air Traffic Control equipment. 2) Developing and adapting procedures to sustain Air Traffic Control equipment. 3) Making on-the-spot adjustments to Air Traffic Control systems to maximize usable signal and range. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Education
