Help

  • Supervises the work of two personal trainers in accordance with the Director¿s guidelines as well as guidelines of the American College of Sports Medicine to include the following: assures the work assignments of the employees in accordance with established work flow or job specialization; keeps in touch with the status and progress of work and makes day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities; instruct employees in accordance with established priorities; instruct employees in specific tasks and job techniques and makes available written instructions, reference, materials, and supplies; gives on the job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices; answers questions of employees regarding policies, procedures, and correct protocol; resolves simple employee complaints; and checks to ensure that instructions are being carried out. 
  • Performs diagnostic evaluations of eligible patrons to determine level of physical condition. This includes measuring aerobic capacity, body fat, strength and flexibility and doing a cardiac risk profile. Counsels both individuals and groups on proper nutrition and conditioning and training programs, and produces written plans. 
  • Ensures all regulations and safety procedures are observed in the fitness center. Ensures fitness equipment is working properly and is safe to use. Acts as liaison to the equipment service contract to ensure all equipment is properly maintained and operational.  Collects patron data for routine reports. 
  • Designs and implements various programs under the guidance of the Director to meet the needs of active-duty population and eligible users. Follows all safety guidelines and maintains close contact with on-base officials to ensure necessary support and safety of all events. Works closely with MCCS Marketing Department to develop a marketing plan, submits advertisements, evaluates effectiveness, and makes program recommendations to the Director.
  • This position is emergency essential.  May be required to work when the rest of the Base is closed.
  • The incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.  All other related duties as assigned.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

  • Three years progressive experience in physical fitness with experience instructing exercise classes and demonstrating exercise procedures.  Experience in providing classroom educational instruction on specialized fitness and health related topics. 
  • Ability to organize, implement, and manage fitness related events. 
  • Must possess current Personal Trainer certification from one of the following organizations, ACSM, ACE, AFAA, or NSCA along with CPR and First Aid Certification.  
  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology or related recreational field preferred.
