Duties

Help
  • You will take action on conventional matters, referring technical and other inquiries to appropriate personnel, based on a knowledge of office programs and functions, project assignments, internal procedures, and current work status.
  • You will respond to non-technical requests for information, e.g., status of actions and reports, suspense’s for matters requiring compliance, correspondence requirements, and similar information readily available from office records and references.
  • You will gather information from staff members, files and other sources, determine its relevance to the situation at hand, and summarize for use by requestors.
  • You will manage director’s calendar based on personal knowledge of workload and current issues without prior approval, but coordinates with supervisor
  • You will compose correspondence on administrative support of the center and other subjects as outlined in regulations and procedures or specifically requested by the director or staff.
  • You will conduct management studies and surveys relating to office management, correspondence control, file management, and manpower.
  • You will study office procedures to as certain effectiveness and determine need for improving quality, reducing cost, increasing uniformity, and similar factors.
  • You will review files, records and other documents for determining specific data; analyzing data; and compiling into final survey findings.
  • You will secure agreement without causing friction, to understand the other person's position, and to resolve conflicts while enforcing policy and in giving instructions, with a minimum of dispute, grievances or delay in operations.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • The employee may be required to work overtime.
  • You may be recalled to duty.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You may be recalled to duty.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position requires a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check to be completed on any person selected for this position. You must be willing and able to submit to a SCHR check.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Independently taking action on conventional matters, referring technical and other similar inquiries to appropriate personnel, based on a knowledge of office programs and functions, project assignments, internal procedures and relationships, and to enforce policy and in give instructions, with a minimum of dispute, grievances or delay in operations.
