Duties

Help
  • You will trouble shoot, repair, and overhaul major components and systems such as engines, transmissions, differentials, and transaxles, electronic fuel injection systems,
  • You will trouble shoot emission control systems, and related electrical, electronic, hydraulic, fuel, and other assemblies associated with automotive and over-the-road equipment.
  • You will to tear down, adjust, repair, reassemble, and run operational checks on components of these systems following instructions contained in manufacturer's technical manuals.
  • You will perform diagnostic inspections utilizing computer printouts or manufactures instructions.
  • You will isolate and repair malfunctions by a combination of visual and auditory examinations and the use of a wide variety of test equipment
  • You will use test equipment such as computerized engine analyzers, compression testers, test benches, oscilloscopes, millimeters, and special feeler and dial gauges.
  • You will perform preventative checks and services on a wide variety of automotive equipment using the manufacturer's technical manuals and other accepted technical or service instructions.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO PERFORM THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. Work includes measuring instruments for heavy mobile equipment, trouble shooting heavy equipment; knowledge of technical practices associated with repair and manufacturer of heavy equipment; knowledge of assembly and installation of heavy mobile equipment.
