Duties

Help
  • You will provide direct support to the Tactical Air Ranges Integration Facility Integrated Product Team and supplementary support to the Aircrew Electronic Warfare Tactical Training Ranges IPT and the Mobile and Integrated Threats Division.
  • You will perform system administrative tasking, coordinate deliverables with other functional area team members, and report status up to the leadership of the organization.
  • You will work with the other functional area members in the IPT to develop, test, integrate, and maintain various air combat training and advanced Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) products that TARIF provides to the Tactical Training communities.
  • You will provide support to software developers, users, and other personnel to resolve issues resulting from patching, upgrades, or other sustainment/development activities.

  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 451, proficiency level basic/intermediate. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:

  1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Assisting in the design, procurement, installation, maintenance, and sustainment for Windows-based systems.
  2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Providing support as a technical subject matter expert to various personnel to include IPT leads, division leadership, and department-level CSWF staff.
  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Communicating with other SAs to use the available automation tools to keep TARIF Information Systems (IS) in compliance to cybersecurity standards
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Providing support to software developers, users, and other personnel as needed to resolve issues resulting from patching, upgrades, or other sustainment/development activities.
DS-05: In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11/12) or pay band (DS-04) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: 1) Demonstrated understanding of Windows System Administration to include enterprise service concepts, intermediate networking, and understanding of lifecycle support concepts; 2) Demonstrated understanding of how cybersecurity compliance is designed and implemented to included automation techniques, cybersecurity threat evaluation (penetration testing, vulnerability testing, etc.), and technical control design; 3) Demonstrated ability to perform corrective maintenance across an entire IT network to include troubleshooting individual endpoints, troubleshooting network support infrastructure, and performing corrective maintenance on all equipment in a closed-loop network; and 4) Leading a team of systems administrators.

DS-04: In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9/10) or pay band (DS-03) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: 1) Demonstrated understanding of Windows System Administration to include enterprise service concepts and intermediate networking including configuring switches and routers; 2) Demonstrated understanding of how cybersecurity compliance is implemented and maintained to include automation techniques, enterprise services that can be utilized to perform that work, and more advanced security best practices that can be implemented across an enterprise network; 3) Demonstrated ability to perform corrective maintenance across an entire IT network to include troubleshooting individual endpoints, troubleshooting network support infrastructure, and performing corrective maintenance on all equipment in a closed-loop network.

DS-03: In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5/8) or pay band (DS-02) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: 1) Independently performing basic IT maintenance; 2) Independently performing basic cybersecurity functions; 3) Utilizing Microsoft Office software suite to perform IT-related work; 4) Assisting with network administration, maintenance planning and support, and upgrade/expansion projects for an organization.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

(DS-04): Successful compleion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.
OR
Have successfully completed 3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

DS-03: Master's or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
OR
2 full years (36 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
