Help
  • Fabricate parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
  • Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers.
  • Dismantle machines or equipment, using hand tools or power tools to examine parts for defects and replace defective parts where needed.
  • Set up or operate metalworking, brazing, heat-treating, welding, or cutting equipment.
  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.

Qualifications

About the Position: The Joint Munitions Command provides the Joint Force with ready, reliable, lethal munitions at the speed of war. JMC's mission is to support the production, storage, distribution, and demilitarization of munitions.The Machinist willmanufacture parts and complete items of equipment from raw stock of difference kinds of metals and metal alloys and other materials and performs machining work required in the manufacture of castings, forgings, weldments, and other fabrications. This position is located at the Camp Stanley Storage Activity, which is a subordinate installation of JMC.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Machinist ~ without more than normal supervision. - Must possess the ability to perform common Machinist duties such as manufacturing, repairing, and rebuilding equipment parts and item; set up, operate, program, and maintain Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machinery; check requirements for drawings and written instructions; use basic math; and a variety of tools. Working under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT:
    The work requires standing, stooping, bending, and reaching, and frequent handling of objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally objects weighing as much as 40 pounds; however, hoists, hand trucks, lifts, and other workers are available to assist with heavier items.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS:
    Works in a well-lighted, heated, ventilated shop with concrete floors. Exposed to dust from grinding, oil form machines, dirt, heat, noises, and fumes. Subject to the hazards of burns from hot metal chips, dust in the lungs, cuts, bruises, injuries to hands from use of machine and hand tools, skin irritation from contact with lubricants and abrasive compounds, and to strains from infrequent moving, lifting, and handling of heavy items. Wears safety glasses, safety shoes and other safety apparel and equipment, as required.
