Duties

Help
  • Monitor the main computer console for the operation of the Environmental Control and Engineer Smoke Control Systems to ensure proper operation, detect problem situations and provide emergency response in cases of serious situations.
  • Inspect, maintain, operationally check and repair a variety of systems such as the room status system, nurse call system, doctors' paging system, radio and public address system and broadband and coaxial cable communication system.
  • Repair and replace system parts and components to include circuit cards/boards, microprocessor chips, transmitters, receivers, hard wiring, controls, connectors, etc.
  • Provide technical advice concerning system capabilities and limitations.
  • Inspect, maintain, operationally check and repair a variety of complete electrical and electronic systems with mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic subsystems and equipment and electronic controls.
  • May operate a motor vehicle.
  • Monitor and maintain complex electrical and electronic systems.

  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common Inspector duties of troubleshooting and maintaining electrical and electronic control systems. Ability to make final repairs and correcting defects on electrical and electronic control systems under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Work involves long periods of sitting, standing, bending, and working in cramped and awkward positions. Frequently handles objects weighing from 10 to 40 pounds and occasionally heavier.
  • Working Conditions: Work is usually performed in well-lighted, heated and ventilated areas; occasionally work outside. Is exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, scrapes, broken bones, shocks and burns. Follows prescribed safety practices and uses safety equipment.
