Duties

Help

  • Coordinates community outreach activities for the Wisconsin Air National Guard (WI ANG).
  • Provides management information, advice, and assistance to the State ANG leadership on Community Outreach.
  • Leverages Public Affairs, the Influencer Program, Community Action Councils, Wing/Base Community Councils, Recruiting, the Special Emphasis Councils (i.e. employee resource groups) and even the respective command teams to expand their reach.
  • Represents the WI ANG and works with the management team to develop and implement initiatives that increase WI ANG visibility within the surrounding community.
  • Develops potential partnerships or methods for engagement with the local community, maintaining a calendar for outreach events and working closely with community partners to plan and execute various outreach events.
  • Analyzes, coordinates and/or performs a variety of special projects/program assignments and studies which lead to resolution of management problems and improvement of operations.
  • Coordinates with State ANG Command staff, Directorates or Group Commanders and, NGB Functional Managers to obtain and exchange information and develop recommendations for management decisions.
  • The incumbent researches current Law, DoD, Department of the Air Force (DAF), NGB, and State policy, and uses judgment to decide appropriate policy and procedures in relation to current projects, taskings, issues and concerns.
  • Serves as a Project Manager for emerging projects assigned to/by the State.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret or higher security clearance. Required level is dependent upon the project/program
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

  • May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments
  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information. Progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to provide technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Candidate must have 1 year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations. Experience event coordination, preparing written communications and oral presentations, creating and managing special projects, and creating relationships with external organizations. Knowledge of the organization is desired but not required. Experience brainstorming potential partnerships or methods for engagement with the local community, experience maintaining a calendar for outreach events and experience working closely with community partners to plan and execute various outreach events. Candidate must be able to organize, manage, and present information to include recommendations both formally and informally via oral and written means. Candidate is able to establish, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with coordinating organizations. Experience delivering presentations on program status, accomplishments, problems, support requirements, and promotion of program objectives to senior military officers and civilians in other program offices.

Education
