Duties

Help

As a FINANCIAL SERVICES TECHNICIAN, GS-0503-08, you will Performs broad-in-depth financial analysis of inter-related accounting, logistics and computer file systems concerning pay, accounts payable, and various travel entitlements, using multiple procedures, processes and techniques to evaluate alternatives and arrive at decisions, conclusions and recommendations. Interpret data to identify problems, determine nature of the problem or issue, decide approaches to use to resolve issues, and recommend solutions for systemic changes to enhance operations. Performs varied duties, involving financial services payment systems (travel, accounts payable, and pay; i.e. Joint Uniform Military Pay System Uniform Standard Terminal Input System (JUMPS), Operational Data Store (ODS), Standard Financial System ReDesign1 (SRD1), Defense Travel System (DTS), Integrated Automated Travel System (IATS), etc., by applying a series of different and unrelated methods, processes and techniques involving established financial management systems. Apply information derived from personnel management systems to ensure proper pay and entitlements to Soldiers and civilians. Schedule, run, and analyze various financial system reports, such as daily activity reports, error/reject reports, status reports, discrepancy and mismatch reports, transaction reports, and ad hoc reports. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • This is a Financial Management certified position. Incumbent is required to comply with all requirements of this certification program. Failure to obtain this certification within the required time may subject the incumbent to adverse action.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:Progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicate ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of a financial services technician.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 12 months specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Knowledge of and skills in the interrelationships of the various financial, personnel and computer file systems, methods, techniques, precedent cases and procedures to resolve especially difficult and/or sensitive problems. Experience in researching, interpreting, analyzing, and applying regulations, policies, procedures and legal decisions and issuances regarding the full range of financial and commercial services provided, including public law; fiscal law; DoD, DA, FORSCOM, NGB and DFAS regulations.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: None

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience. To qualify for GS-0503 technician position based on completed undergraduate or graduate education, the college degree education must be in one of -or- be a combination of the following required disciplines: Accounting, business, finance, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organizational management. Technician applicants, who completed the Army or the Air Force Financial Technical School course and were awarded the applicable and compatible military skills, are considered minimally qualified for the GS-0503-08 entry-level position.

You must provide OFFICIAL transcripts or other documentation to support your educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
