Summary

The Flight Deck Human Performance Research Lab (AAM-510) conducts multiple research studies per year to inform operational safety in the National Aerospace System (NAS). The Research Clerk will provide the support necessary to principal investigators and management to conduct research. This support includes scheduling, facilitating events, data entry, clerical task and document preparation.

Duties

Help

Schedules and coordinates participants, tours, data collection sites, events and performs clerical tasks under the close direction of a manager, program manager or principal investigator.

Applies basic knowledge and limited experience to accomplish assigned tasks to facilitate research project execution by compiling materials, delivering materials and resources to conduct research events.

Has a basic understanding of office automation and other tools necessary for the employee to perform job functions like scheduling, data entry, clerical task, etc. Typical tasks may include typing/keyboarding; coding, entering, and transcribing data; sorting and filing; and maintaining directories, lists, and other standard guides. This could include support for contracts, research studies, and events.

Provides assistance with the preparation of project-related reports, manuscripts, and presentations.

Regularly coordinates with a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced employee to plan time, prioritize tasks, and use assigned resources.

Assists managers and other employees in day-to-day operations.

Contacts are primarily internal to the organizational unit with a manager and other employees to share information and/or discuss the statuses of tasks. On some projects, may have frequent contacts with customers and other parties on routine matters such as greeting and referring callers and visitors.

Works under detailed instructions provided by a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced employee. Regularly refers problems and work issues to a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced employee for guidance.

Work is reviewed regularly during assigned tasks and at completion to ensure timeliness and all aspects of quality.

Work activities typically support the work of other employees and contribute to the activities of the organization.

Qualifications

No general or specialized experience is required at the FV-C (GS/FG 1-4) level.
