Help

Serves as the District Operations Liaison for the Field Operations Branch, Business Operations Directorate, NAF Business and Support Services Division (MR), Manpower and Reserve Affairs Department, Headquarters Marine Corps. Reports to the District Operations Leader. Leads by example to shape and sustain a working environment conducive to the successful performance of those entrusted to his/her leadership and direction; and create a positive atmosphere and culture within Business Operations and its constituent branches that reflect the pride, professionalism, sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, collaborative engagement, well-being, and whole-hearted customer focus of its employees. In partnership with commands, may include operational oversight responsibilities. 

Drives the implementation of corporate programs by motivating and supporting the store leadership teams within the district in Marine Corps Exchange (MCX) big-box and Marine Mart environments to develop and implement action plans that meet key operational objectives. Plans, identifies, communicates and delegates key responsibilities and practices to store leadership team to ensure smooth flow of operations within the district. Reviews store environments and key business indicators within the district to identify problems, concerns and opportunities for improvement in order to partner with the store leadership team to take action and achieve operational goals.  Manages a weekly district conference call program for each of the store leader segments: big-box and Marine Mart teams. Manages through critical organizational change to keep district operating to standard while inspiring a change-ready environment and building the change agility of our MCX businesses and associates.

Drives weekly and monthly sales goals within the district, in conjunction with installation management. Drives corporate sales programs and promotions within the district. Communicates sales and in-stock opportunities to MCX corporate headquarters. Supports the execution of scheduled merchandise resets and planograms by walking the floor with store leadership regarding visual merchandising decisions and brand presentation standards.

Partners with district store leadership in developing implementation plans to support execution of corporate initiatives to achieve both operational excellence and business results. Partners with and follows up with store leadership teams to ensure accountability to execution of plans. Responsible for transformational communication, documentation and performance metrics. Ensures leader-level staff development and talent acquisition to achieve and maintain district operational requirements. Utilizes business-based tools to identify and prioritize communications and filters communications to the store leadership teams within the district. Communicates clearly, concisely and accurately in order to ensure effective operations at the store and district level. Collaborates with other District Operations Liaisons to build best practices, alignment and standard district operations.

Utilizes management information tools, business analytics, metrics, and corporate business information system to analyze financial reports to identify and address trends and issues in district performance; develops action plans with store leadership to correct deficiencies. Ensures total store compliance with corporate policies and brand standards and communicates these policies to all employees in a developmental, associate-centric manner. Monitors district-wide MCX logistics processes ensuring effective operations while developing store-level accountability and process management. Builds internal decision-making capability and confidence among store leadership teams using information-based statistics, rationale, ownership, and accountability. 

Promotes training and development throughout the district and supports the implementation and integration of the MCX corporate training & career development program at the store level. Participates in all corporate-led training programs and works with Store Leaders within the district to set training goals and manage training compliance and learning transfer. Facilitates instructor-led training modules to small groups of employees within the district based on business need and in consultation with the Headquarters Operations Training Manager. Plays an integral role in district leadership development initiatives. Connects required training to performance and skill gaps. Participates in the annual training needs assessment process and training budget preparation. 

Required regular travel to each store location within the district completing store reviews on a regularly scheduled basis as well as coaching and developing leadership teams within the defined store structure.

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university in business management or a related field appropriate to the work of the position and 3 years of experience in the occupation, or a related field or work area, OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR appropriate experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above. Leadership experience in the retail field is required. Knowledge of operational and sales budgets. Must have a strong operational background and possess a demonstrated ability to lead and direct a large, diverse workforce. Ability to partner and coach store teams in multiple stores independently. Knowledge of big-box and convenience store retail operations. Knowledge of organization and planning skills, change leadership skills, customer-centric operational skills, supervisory and team-building skills. Ability to build relationships and align partnerships with varying constituencies across the organization. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of business process controls and system development. Represents the organization in command level conferences or with contractors or other federal officials. Must possess and maintain a valid driver¿s license. 

Eligible for telework.  This is a 100% remote work position.
