Duties

Help

  • Conducts tours at Grand Coulee Dam with visitors representing multi-cultural, educational and international backgrounds.
  • Conducts specialized in-depth VIP hard hat tours for school ·groups, other government agencies, and power or irrigation industry groups.
  • Studies and reviews a variety of printed material and statistical data pertaining to Grand Coulee Dam operations.
  • Staffs the Grand Coulee Dam Visitor Center and operates the Laser Light Show during summer season.

Qualifications

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the education/and or specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume.

To qualify at the GS-05, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-04 level in federal service having demonstrated experience that involved independent oral presentation of historical, scientific, or program information to larger groups; OR developing and/or revising technical, historical, or scientific information for oral presentation to groups.

OR

You could otherwise qualify on the basis of Education having 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree meets the specialized experience required only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position, such as American history, science, and/or public speaking. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. Two full academic years of study, or 60 semester hours, beyond the second year is equivalent to 1-year of specialized experience.

OR

You may combine specialized experience and education to meet the minimum qualifications. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post high school education and experience are also qualifying. If education is used to meet specialized experience requirements, then such education must include courses directly related to the work of the position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including any selective placement factors if applicable, by 06/12/2024.

Education

This vacancy announcement allows substituting education for experience at the GS-05 grade level. Applicants must submit a copy of college transcript(s) (unofficial copy is acceptable) to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include the name of the college or university and date the degree was conferred. A typed list of courses, grades, semester/quarter hours, GPA, etc. will not be accepted. Non-submission may result in being rated not-qualified for the position.

You will be required to provide official college transcripts to verify educational qualifications, if selected. An official transcript must be sent directly from the University's Registrar's office and must be provided from the institution awarding the degree. Academic transcripts certified by notary publics are NOT official. Official transcripts must be submitted prior to reporting to work as a condition of employment. Failure to submit official transcripts may be grounds for dismissal or rescission of the job offer.

Accreditation: Only education from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education is acceptable to meet education requirements or to substitute for experience, if applicable. Foreign Education: To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, you must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs. You may be required to serve an initial probationary period. Current, permanent Federal employees who are selected from this announcement may be required to serve a probationary period.

This is a Career-Seasonal position and subject to release and recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of permanent employment, but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis. As such, you will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. You are guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment. The typical season is April through October but can be variable during these months due to project requirements or weather conditions.

Reclamation has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster.
