NONAPPROPRIATED FUND POSITION DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:  Supply Technician

JOB SERIES: 2005       PAY LEVEL: NF-03 

FLSA Status:  Non-exempt


INTRODUCTION: This position is located within Marine Corps Hospitality Services (MCHS), Okinawa. The primary purpose of this position is to manage the supply of Inns of the Corps- Camp Foster, Inns of the Corps- Camp Hansen, Inns of the Corps-Camp Courtney and Navy BOQ facilities. The position reports directly to the 
MCHS Operations Management Specialist.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Performs detailed clerical and technical support within the framework of established supply management guidelines by applying standardized supply practices. May be responsible for inventory control, storage and distribution of the supply identification system, property utilization, and shipping and storage of parcels and printed matter.

Establishes stock levels for individual items. Revises requirement quantities based on number of items on hand and established allowances.  Identifies and address discrepancies.  Reviews supporting documents and reference material to determine what special supply action is required. May establish and revise reorder frequencies. Maintains assigned storerooms and required to maintain inventory accuracy. Issues supplies and amenities to authorized staff members. Responsible for conducting monthly and annual property inventories.

Responsible for ordering and receiving, storage and distribution, inventory control, and accountability of supplies and equipment.  Completes purchase order forms, requisition forms, and other supply related documents. Reconciles Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) and credit card statements.   Responsible for maintaining accurate and current inventory of on-hand supplies, equipment and government property.  Maintains and/or adjusts inventory and property records. Prepares necessary documents for proper disposal of government property.

Assists in the budgeting for supplies and equipment.  Participates in the check-in/check-out inspections and room inventories as required.  Assists with the installation, relocation and moving of equipment and other property. Assists with safety inspections and reports.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy.  Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner.  Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact.  Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems.  Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services.  Takes action to solve problems quickly.  Alerts the higher level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.  

Adheres to safety regulations and standards.  Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures.  Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   

  1. At least one year of experience which demonstrates working knowledge of governing supply systems, programs, policies, shipping terms, and procedures is required. 
  2. Knowledge of inventory, purchasing and distributing procedures using computerized record keeping systems as well as knowledge of basic safety including Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). 
  3. One year of demonstrated experience utilizing work methods or manuals and business mathematics is preferred.  

Must successfully complete all applicable background investigations for Federal suitability for employment.  This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance. Proper safety equipment is provided.
