As an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC (MILITARY) WG-2604-11, you will troubleshoot, inspect, install, maintain, overhaul, repair, and modify complete operational systems consisting of numerous complex integral components. Complete operational checks, inspections, tests and troubleshooting of line replaceable unit (LRU). Isolate unusual malfunctions using technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, tools and test equipment including automatic test equipment. Complete bench check, testing, repair, inspection, modification, programming, reprogramming, mating, adjusting, alignment, and analyzing of LRUs and shop replaceable units. Recommend methods to improve equipment performance, technical data, and maintenance procedures by reporting hardware and software malfunctions, initiates materiel deficiency reports both on equipment and in technical data, and assists in design changes as necessary. When designated on NGB Flying Status Orders, serves as member of flight crew for the purpose of diagnosing and recording malfunctions, or otherwise determining maintenance and repair requirements. Guide lower level mechanics in performance of tasks. Conduct on-the-job training on assigned systems and related support equipment and tasks to include classroom instruction as necessary. Process and account for due-in supply assets. Prepare for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as Operational Readiness Evaluations (ORE), Command Logistics Readiness Inspections (CLRT-X), and Aviation Resource Management Surveys. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Selectee will be required to undergo medical testing, at the expense of the government, prior to beginning employment. Medical tests are used to determine fitness and eligibility for employment.
  • Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.
  • For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-4 through E-8

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training which provide a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information. Progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to provide technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable?? work of the position to be filled. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1 year equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel. Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations. Must have experience providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations.
