Are you interested in a job protecting our Nation against cyber threats? Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is recruiting for a Cybersecurity State Coordinator (CSC) to serve within CISA's Integrated Operations Division (IOD).

Visit www.cisa.gov.In this position, you will serve as an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC).

CSCs are regionally placed cybersecurity professionals appointed to serve in each state. CSCs serve as the federal cybersecurity risk advisors and support cybersecurity preparation, response, and remediation efforts relating to cybersecurity risks and incidents; facilitate the sharing of cyber threat information; and help SLTT governments develop cybersecurity plans. They advise public and private sector stakeholders on a range of cybersecurity activities that are aimed at improving cyber resilience postures and economic security including through cybersecurity assessments, partnership development and preparedness activities, strategic messaging to the general public as well as to specific industries and consortia. CSCs also communicate information and coordinate response efforts relating to cybersecurity incidents.

Typical work assignments include:

  • Serves as principal point of contact for Regional Directors to State government officials with a specific focus on critical functional cybersecurity issues such as developing state cybersecurity strategies and state cyber response plans.
  • Build strategic public and private sector relationships, including by advising on establishing governance structures to facilitate the development and maintenance of secure and resilient infrastructure
  • Advise public and private sector organizational leaders and senior managers on cybersecurity risks of information security programs, policies, processes, systems, and elements
  • Facilitate the sharing of cyber threat information to improve understanding of cybersecurity risks and situational awareness of cybersecurity incidents.
  • Raise awareness of the financial, technical, and operational resources available from the Federal Government to non-Federal entities to increase resilience against cyber threats.
  • Support cybersecurity training, exercises, and planning for continuity of operations to expedite recovery from cybersecurity incidents, including ransomware.
  • Serve as a principal point of contact for non-Federal government entities to engage, on a voluntary basis, with the Federal Government on preparing, managing, and responding to cybersecurity incidents
  • Assist non-Federal entities in developing and coordinating vulnerability disclosure programs consistent with Federal and information security industry standards
  • Independently conduct cyber advisory visits and strategic cyber risk assessments to measure effectiveness of critical infrastructure protective measures in place and defense-in-depth architectures against known vulnerabilities.
  • Serve as a keynote speaker at industry conferences, seminars, & events and participate as a panelist in discussions related to cybersecurity (i.e., data protection, risk management, ransomware, and incident response).
  • Review approved or proposed policies such as presidential executive orders, which may affect cybersecurity activities.
  • Assist in identifying, prioritizing, and coordinating the protection of critical cyber defense infrastructure and key resources, and in assessing the impact of implementing and sustaining a dedicated cyber defense infrastructure.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Requirements AND Minimum Qualification/Specialized Experience requirements as noted below.

  3. AND

Specialized Experience:GS-14: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level (starting salary) if you possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level.

Specialized experience is defined as:
1. Managing cybersecurity related programs and projects or serving as a senior representative for complex, high-visibility information technology projects.
2. Providing authoritative technical guidance, advice, and/or oversight related to information systems security to include use of cybersecurity frameworks, controls or auditing requirements.
3. Communicating and coordinating response and/or reporting of cyber incidents to various federal, state, and local government programs and officials.
