The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM), 1st Test and Evaluation Squadron at Vandenberg Space Force Base is searching for a Test Director (NH-0801-03).

Description:
The 1st Test and Evaluation Squadron is at the cutting edge of new Space Domain Awareness and Space Command and Control technology. If you are looking to be challenged and have the opportunity to work with members from multiple branches of the armed forces and across numerous United States Space Force units, this is the place for you. As a Test Director you will have the opportunity to directly shape future space systems through rigorous testing and evaluating to ensure future capabilities are delivered to the warfighter. You will lead an expert team(s) of subject matter experts as they ensure critical systems are designed to meet real-time needs across the space domain.

The ideal candidate will possess Space operations and/or Space Test experience. Program Management, Microsoft Office skills, briefing/presentation skills, teaching/instructing experience, able to explain engineering terms and concepts and able to accomplish engineering tasks (as required).

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of the theories, concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, and materials of multidisciplinary professional engineering to effectively apply engineering theories, principles, and concepts to areas of responsibility.
2. Knowledge of the principles of planning, program management, and standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Skill in evaluating space systems performance and determining test requirements while maintaining good working relationships with developing contractors, customers, and senior leadership.
4. Ability to encourage new ideas and innovations, negotiate mutually acceptable solutions; manage human, financial and information resources and build coalitions to achieve common goals. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization.
5. Ability to research, evaluate, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend timely and economical solutions.
6. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies.
7. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements; determine goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinate with other organizations; monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes.
8. Ability to identify problems and use sound judgment and decisions to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • This position is on-site and eligible for telework, 2-4 days per pay period.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Clearance. Position may include additional program security requirements. If so, Incumbent must be willing to submit to a Counterintelligence Polygraph and mandatory drug testing.
  • This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program. It is required that you (a) refrain from the use of illegal drugs and (b) if requested, submit to urinalysis testing.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Employee may be required to take a random counter-intelligence polygraph and submit to background checks as a condition of employment and/or continued access to the SAP.
  • PCS funding is available.
