Duties

Help
  • Perform a variety of manual labor tasks incidental to trade, craft or warehousing activities requiring application of knowledge and experience gained on previous similar assignments.
  • Assist trades and craft workers by obtaining tools, materials and equipment.
  • Move, rearrange, lift, hold, carry, and stack heavy items or objects.
  • Operate electric hand- jack, bailing machine, or power tools as required.
  • Load or unload trucks, or other conveyances; moves, packs, unpacks, sorts, segregates, arranges, stacks, piles or relocates a variety of supply items, some of which may be of considerable weight.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Laborer~ without more than normal supervision. I am able to perform common Laborer tasks including safely loading and unloading trucks; operating both power and non-power tools; mail sorting, such as separating and sorting flat mail according to prescribed procedures; I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean and in order)
  • Physical Effort: Work requires heavy physical effort which requires frequently lifting and moving objects weighingover 50 pounds. Work also requires periods of continuous walking, standing, or stooping.
  • Working Conditions: Work may be outdoors in all kinds of weather. Indoors, the worker may be exposed to hot and cold drafts, dust, and noise, there is a chance of injury such as cuts, bruises, strains, and scrapes.
