Duties

Help
  • Serves as the Supervisor of the IT Branch, supervising a team of specialists (NF-4/GS-09 level) performing Systems Administration and delivery of Information Technology. Prepares and presents reports and briefings to technical staff.
  • Formulates and publishes technical guidance and standard operating procedures for IT specialists; and ensures that supplies, equipment and other materials are available. Interprets IT policies, standards and guidelines.
  • Carries out routine maintenance, upgrade, and support of servers. Performs assignments using standard principles, theories, concepts and methods for systems administration and systems engineering.
  • Supervises assigned staff, defines organizational objectives and specific goals of the subordinate IM element, plans short-range and long-range work to be accomplished, and adjusts long-range schedules. Prepares the yearly IT Department budget.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:

Experience, education and/or specialized training sufficient to demonstrate knowledge and skill in:

  • Principles and methods for integrating information systems components;
  • Performance tuning tools and techniques;
  • System diagnostic tool and fault identification techniques;
  • Systems administration methods; and
  • IT security principles.

Demonstrated work experience must be equivalent in complexity, difficulty and responsibility to the next lower pay band level.

Highly Preferred Criteria:
  • A certificate or degree in computer science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management
    OR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:
  • Possess a valid baseline IT certification, such as IAT-II Technical Certification, CompTIA Security+ or higher, and/or a higher-level IT certification.
  • Possess two (2) years of experience working in Family Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (FMWR).
  • Possess two (2) years of hands-on experience in troubleshooting Information Technology issues with various systems, including RecTrac or similar point of sale systems.
  • Possess one year of supervisory experience, either within MWR or a similar civilian activity, demonstrating strong leadership capabilities.
  • Possess IT equipment procurement experience, including familiarity with APMS, ITAS, and/or eMass, demonstrating expertise in procurement processes and system integration.
  • Possess experience in adhering to IT budgets while managing Life Cycle Replacement (LCR) within constraints, including asset assessment, forecasting, and cost-effective strategies.
  • Possess technical skills in hardware, software, networking, and security, proficient in issue resolution, with practical experience configuring commercial networks, routers, switches, and wireless access points.

Education

Certificate or degree or equivalent degree in computer science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is in the Government's interest.
Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
