Duties

Help

1. Develop the Records & Information Management (RIM) program plans, policies, procedures, techniques, and standards for implementing records management programs covering the creation, administration, utilization, filing, and disposition of agency records.

2. Serves as the agency's liaison with several external groups, e.g., the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA, etc., and attends meetings and seminars, as necessary, to keep abreast of records management developments and accomplish assignments more effectively, economically, and in conformance with current standards.

3. Provides ongoing general and/or program-specific training to staff related to records management, ensuring all records liaisons are trained on the creation, maintenance, use, storage, and disposition of the records created within their area of responsibility.

For the GS-14 level, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to GS-13 in the Federal service. At a minimum, specialized experience must reflect all of the following: 1. Leading a records program or project; AND 2. Independently apply and research record management rules, regulations, policies, and practices to gather facts, draw conclusions, and/or make recommendations; AND 3. Analyzing, reviewing, and implementing changes to policies, strategies, and guidelines governing records lifecycle data standards and authorities. ALL 3 ITEMS MUST BE FOUND IN YOUR RESUME TO BE QUALIFIED.

TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Telework Suitability:
The duties of this position are suitable for occasional telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval and if they meet the eligibility criterion in the 2010 Telework Act.
