Duties

Help
  • Serves as a lead over five or more Clothing Fitter workers in the performance of clothing issue and fitting operations.
  • Ensures that needed plans, Standard Operating Procedures, material, Personal Protective Equipment, and tools are available.
  • Work with sewing machines, predicted table/chart to convert these measurements to the initial try on size.
  • Utilizes skill with methods and procedures for fitting footwear/clothing.
  • Measures, fits, and issues clothing on a clothing issue line.

  • Must be able to work flexible tours of duty to include alternating shifts/irregular hours, weekends, night shift or day shifts.
  • Inclement Weather Essential Position - Incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather.
  • Employee is required to wear protective safety devices such as safety shoes, ear plugs, ear muffs, and safety glasses as required by current safety regulations.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Leader for the position of Clothing Fitter Leader without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common tasks of providing information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations. Perform common body measurements with tape measure for head, neck, chest, sleeve, waist, hips, cross back, back waist and height to enter into clothing worksheets. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Frequently lifts items weighing 40-70 pounds independently and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds with assistance. Work involves continuous standing and walking on concrete floors, bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching above head.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in moderately heated, lighted and ventilated building. Is subject to cuts, abrasions, bruises or strains from handling boxes and bundles of clothing. Is frequently exposed to unpleasant body odors. Work surroundings are noisy and crowded from the number of soldiers processing.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
