Duties

Help

As a Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Inspect and approve completed work, coaches employees, prepares requests, and completes purchasing of equipment and supplies.
  • Plan, direct, and supervise, directly or through subordinate leaders, Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanics, ensuring that operation, maintenance, and repairs in the HVAC systems are performed correctly and efficiently.
  • Perform various non-standard industrial tasks in connection with the repair and operation of large and complex HCHB mechanical systems, including diagnosing and repairing unusual problems.
  • Perform various checks, tests, adjustments, and troubleshooting tasks to determine the need of repair and operational work. Implements corrective actions to resolve work problems.
  • Plan, sets up, and complete specified tasks using equipment of the trade, blueprints, sketches, oral instructions, or other specifications.

Qualifications

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C and evaluated under OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume.

Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which appears as a question in the on-line questionnaire. Applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable of the screen out are given further consideration and those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Your qualifications will be evaluated against the following screen out:

  • Ability To Inspect the work of Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanics in planning and supervising the operation, maintenance, and repair of nonstandard and highly advanced Heating Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems in a large commercial building.
AND
  • A Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Refrigerant Certification (Type I, II, III or Universal) is required upon hire or within one year of employment.
  • A Stationary Engineers license or equivalent is highly preferred.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
