Duties

Help
  • Participates in the development, revision and/or update of SOPs, as required.
  • Receives shipments of all types of ammunition.
  • Assists with inspections and audits.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Conducts pre-issue inspection of ammunition items prior to issue.
  • Performs receipt inspections on all ammunition and components turned in by using units.
  • Advises using units on the proper procedures for completion of documentation for issue and turn-in of ammunition and residue.
  • Inspects small arms ammunition to ensure segregation of ball and blank ammunition.
  • Participates in amnesty management including identifying, inspecting, segregating, determine serviceability, documenting, packaging for storage, and coordinating disposition.
  • Inspects ammunition, performs maintenance, care, preservation, shipping and storage operations, assuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety regulations, drawings, etc. during operations.
  • Sets up and operates specialized Ammunition Peculiar Equipment (APE).
  • Assists Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team with demilitarization mission.
  • Conducts and/or coordinates testing of the Intrusion Detection System (IDS).

  • Management has the right to convert this position to permanent status without re-advertising.
  • Employment can be terminated with a 30 day notice.
  • In the event a permanent (Tenure 1 or 2) employee is selected, and is willing to accept the indefinite appointment, that employee will relinquish permanent status.
  • Incumbent must be cleared IAW requirements of AR 190-11 and must pass a local and national law enforcement files check.
  • Must meet the requirements of DA PAM 385-64, other applicable regulations, as well as validation by the ammunition and explosives safety certification board.
  • Must possess and maintain a current state driver’s license.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg amendment to the gun control act of 1968.
  • Must be certified in Hazardous Waste Site Personnel (29 CFR1910.120).
  • Physical required.

  • This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Missouri National Guard prior to the effective date of placement.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

  • Pre-placement or baseline physical are required for newly hired or appointed Wage Grade personnel who may be potentially exposed to health hazards in the work environment.

Qualifications

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Selected candidate will be required to be in a compatible military assignment prior to effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be MOS qualified within 12 months from date of appointment.

Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Title 32 National Guard employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion).

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education or training which demonstrates the ability to use and maintain tools and equipment associated with the type of work to be done, ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and the ability to apply safety standards.

WG-09 SPECALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 18 months of specialized experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret wiring diagrams and facility blueprints, as well as scale indications in a toxic or radioactive environment, planning work sequences and determining the requirements for serviceability of equipment and knowledge of the impact of repairs on related integral devices. This specialized experience must also include the ability to interpret technical publications and assist subordinates or other employees in interpreting technical publications applicable to the detection, identification, and destruction of numerous types of explosives and toxic materials.

Education

This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
