Summary

This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Sports and Fitness Division (N921); Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Recreational Fleet and Family Readiness Support Services (N94); Commander, Navy Region Hawaii, at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam (JBPHH), Honolulu, HI. The purpose of this position is to provide customer service to patrons as well as to perform a variety of duties in support of the MWR Sports and Fitness program at the NCTAMS Fitness Center.

Duties

Help

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs and/or assists in the operation of the recreation activity.
  • Based on established policies, incumbent carries out assigned phases of designated activity applying an understanding of the interest and needs of the program participants. Typical assignments may include: establishing schedules of events; applying rules and regulations in supervising assigned youth participants in indoor and outdoor activities; setting up gymnasium and playing fields for sports events; scheduling and conducting tours and field trips.
  • Demonstrates procedures common to the activities and instructs in the use of related equipment.
  • Helps to plan and coordinates details of recreational activities and maintains related supplies.
  • Assists in planning, scheduling and publicizing various activities to attract and motivate participants.
  • May oversee sale of retail items associated with activities.
  • Ensures adherence to safety rules and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess:

  • One to two years' experience in a related recreational activity. (Qualifications applicable to the specialization may be established locally).
  • Must have strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Combination of experience related to customer service and or recreation activity based functions.
  • Ability to organize, plan, administer special events and entertainment activities.
  • Must be able to work independently, make sound decisions and have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of the functions, procedures, and operations of recreation activities.
  • Must have strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of computers, office procedures and print production.

Education

This position does not have a positive education requirement.

Additional information

Salary is dependent on experience and/or education.

Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.
