Duties

Help

As a SOCIAL WORKER, GS-0185-12, you will:

  • Develop coordinated plans for reducing risk factors for individuals.
  • Develop, teach, and provide oversight for classes that promote education.
  • Prepare written evaluation reports with clinical impressions and recommendations.
  • Conduct need assessments, intake evaluations, and psycho-diagnostic assessments.
  • Accomplish intake interviews to include family history, bio-psychosocial history, developmental and health histories.
  • Provide operational leadership consultation
  • Direct client services
  • Community capacity building, preventive, remedial, and support services aimed at improving and sustaining the psychological health of Army National Guard military members and their families.

Additional Employment Requirements:

Professional Social Work Licensure Requirements- Must have professional unrestricted state licensure. (Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW))

Restrictions - No record of conviction by special or general courts-martial or civilian courts of offenses. For use by AMEDD officers in MFA 73, no record of conviction by special or general courts-martial or civilian courts of offenses listed in AR 27-10 (Military Justice), Chapter 24, or otherwise required to register as a sexual offender under AR 27-10, Chapter 24.

Qualifications

General Experience:
Must have knowledge of social work theories, principles, techniques, and resources.

Specialized Experience:
Must have 24 months of experience in in the following:

  • Clinical social work assignments
  • Providing assistance and services
  • Helping people work-out plans for improving the situation
  • Interviewing people to establish the nature and extent of their problems
  • Referring people to community resources and other organizations as indicated
  • Assisting people to understand and modify their own patterns of behavior when appropriate

Education

Education Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work from a graduate school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and acceptable to The Surgeon General.
