Duties

Help
  • You will perform regularly scheduled preventive maintenance on plant equipment and operate the domestic wastewater collection pumping stations.
  • You will manually rake the bar screen and disposes of the debris in a dedicated dumpster.
  • You will remove solids to a digester system and holding tank for disposal on designated application sites on base.
  • You will operate a reactor by controlling dissolved oxygen levels and proper mixing of the mixed liquor to adequately control ammonia and nitrate levels for nitrogen and phosphorous removal..
  • You will add acetic acid for a biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) (food) source to enhance the conversion of ammonia nitrogen to nitrate nitrogen in the reactor.

  • This position requires rotating shift work.
  • Must obtain the required NC Grade 2 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's State Certification within six months of being hired.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision: Monitor and control sewage pump stations and wastewater using the plant's computer system.
