This vacancy announcement is for a Dual-Status Technician position which requires active membership in the New Jersey National Guard (uniformed military service). Official appointment is not effective until membership within the New Jersey National Guard is confirmed by the gaining Human Resources Office.

Duties

As an PROJECT COORDINATION SPECIALIST, GS-0301-11, you will:

  • Analyzes, coordinates and/or performs a variety of special projects/program assignments and studies leading to the resolution of management problems and improvement of operations.
  • Independently develops a plan of action and recommends solutions. Coordinates with State ARNG/ANG Command staff, Directorates or Group Commanders, and NGB Functional Managers to obtain and exchange information and develop recommendations for management decisions.
  • Provides management information, advice, and assistance to the State ARNG/ANG Command staff, Directorates or Group Commanders on programs/projects assigned.
  • Analyzes information and data; assesses progress of programs, projects, and processes.
  • Organizes, manages, and presents information to include recommendations both formally and informally via oral and written means.
  • Responsible for the work of assigned personnel.
  • Performs the supervisory and managerial responsibilities. Assigns work to functional staff members in accordance with established organization mission and functions, workload fluctuations and personnel availability.
  • Develops or directs the development of new or changed internal operating procedures and instructions.
  • Effects minor disciplinary measures--such as warnings and reprimands--and recommends other actions in more serious cases. Identifies developmental and training needs of employees, providing for or arranging for needed development and training.
  • Researches and recommends appropriate actions or interpretation of issues that impact the organization, command, or agency, and which affect the structure and future work of the organization to senior leadership. (25%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

General Experience:

  • Applying principles of organization, management, and administration
  • Using computer and automation systems
Specialized Experience: Must have at least 36 months of the following
  • Program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to the position to be filled or in comparable work or functions.
  • Developing and recommending policy
  • Organizing and carrying out specific programs
  • Evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations
  • Supervisory, staff or technical work, applying practices and procedures
  • Study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies
  • Preparing written communications and oral presentations
