Duties

Help
  • Provide direct support to the Director and Deputy Director (e.g., scheduling appointments, meetings, conferences, and resolving scheduling conflicts).
  • Coordinate necessary travel and other arrangements in support of critical meetings within the Group.
  • Perform office automation duties which include entering information into a variety of systems needed to maintain the smooth functioning of the office.
  • Oversee executive level correspondence and must possess expert level written and verbal communication skills, analytical skills, and strong decision-making ability and attention to detail to oversee and manage correspondence for the Center.
  • Handle procedural problems independently and takes action and/or recommends solutions to the supervisor.

In order to qualify for the GS-07
, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
1). Maintaining electronic calendars and scheduling appointments for meetings and conferences; and 2). Reviewing current administrative procedures for efficiency and accuracy; and 3). Analyzing the proper disposition of incoming requests and entering information into automated tracking systems.
- OR -
Substitution of Education for Experience: You may substitute education for specialized experience at the GS-07 level by possessing a Bachelor's degree that meets the requirements for Superior Academic Achievement, OR 1 full year of graduate level education in a field that provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform successfully the duties of this position. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)

Have a combination of specialized experience as described in "A" above and graduate education as described in "B" above. To combine education and experience, determine the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level (note: only graduate education in excess of 2 full years, 36 semester hours or equivalent is creditable). Finally, add two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)

In order to qualify for the GS-09, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
1). Managing electronic calendars and scheduling appointments while independently resolving any conflicts or required changes; and 2). Developing new or enhancing current administrative procedures after identifying areas for improvement; and 3). Researching and triaging incoming correspondence and entering information into automated tracking systems while maintaining program specific data.

Substitution of Education for Experience: You may substitute education for specialized experience at the GS-09 level by possessing a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related to the position being filled. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
- OR -
Combination of Experience and Education: Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the GS-07 grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at the grade GS-09. Therefore, only education in excess of 1 full year of graduate level education may be used to combine education and experience. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)

Workplace Flexibility at CMS: This position has a regular and recurring reporting requirement to the CMS office listed in this announcement; however, CMS offers flexible working arrangements and allows employees the opportunity to participate in telework combined with alternative work schedules at the manager's discretion. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process. Supervisory positions must report a minimum 2 times per week and non-Supervisory positions must report a minimum of 2 times per pay period.
