Duties

Help
  • You will plan, schedule, and conduct inspections of safety programs.
  • You will collect, analyze, and disseminate data concerning the accident experience of the command and subordinate units.
  • You will conduct independent and joint risk management studies for operations/exercises, analyze mishap experience and assist others with risk management decisions on own initiative or as directed by the supervisor.
  • You will research, study, and evaluate operations and risks, and identify/develop methods/techniques to control/eliminate hazardous conditions which occur during operations and exercises.
  • You will review, investigate, and respond to all command level OSHA or safety complaints.
  • You will deliver briefs and lead initiatives to expand workforce awareness on issues such as safety, health, and welfare, and operational stress.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area Technical Support Specialist, level Full Performance within 12 months of appointment.

Qualifications

Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled.
Qualifying experience at the next lower grade would be demonstrated by:
(1)
Implementation, execution, oversight, and maintenance of the Marine Corps safety program across all six MARFORCYBER components.
(2) Providing policy recommendations and subject matter expertise regarding safety, health, and welfare.
(3) Providing core safety services by planning, developing, organizing, coordinating, administering and evaluating a comprehensive 24- hour a day.

This position is within the Work Category-Professional at Work Level-Full Performance, Series 0018 and Grade GG-11.

Education

At a minimum, all CES employees in the Professional Work Category require a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Some groups in this category, however, may have a positive education requirement that cannot be replaced with experience, such as a requirement for a particular type or level of an academic degree.
