Duties

Help
  • As a Clinical Psychologist, you will:
  • Screen and interview patients and perform bio-psychological, social, and occupational evaluations.
  • Ensure the appropriate application and accuracy of psychological procedures and techniques in the evaluation of psychological dis-orders.
  • Monitor and evaluate completeness of applicant psychological assessments.
  • Establish cooperative agreements among various treatment providers.
  • Oversee and interpret appropriate psychological tests.
  • Conduct research on the mental health program effectiveness, as well as new psychological tools and computer programs which may increase the efficiency and effectiveness of evaluations.
  • Approves selection of and interprets various psychological tests.
  • Develop and implement in service training for medical providers on psychological assessment of applicants.

  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has been designated as non-sensitive and requires a personnel security background check.
  • All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • Successful completion of MHS GENESIS Training is required in order to access the MHS GENESIS System within 30 days of on- boarding.
  • Selectee shall have completion an APA-accredited internship/residency in clinical psychology (or an internship/Residency acceptable to the Department of the Army, Office of the Surgeon General - DA OTSG) (Note:  Must provide proof of completion.)

Qualifications

REMOTE WORK: This position is eligible for Remote Work. Remote work means the residence is the full-time, official duty location. The difference in salary is determined by the locality pay in each location. If selected in the HQ, MEPCOM duty location, this position is Telework eligible.

TERM APPOINTMENT INFORMATION: This position is TERM not to exceed 13 months with provisions to extend up to a maximum of eight years. Army employees who accept a time-limited appointment (to include employees with personal competitive status) will be separated at the end of the time-limited appointment date if the Not-to-Exceed (NTE) date is not extended. There are NO return/reemployment rights to the position vacated prior to accepting the time-limited appointment. Permanent Army employees who accept such time-limited appointment opportunities will be expected to sign a statement of understanding to acknowledge the associated impacts to their permanent status.

Basic Requirements for Clinical Psychologist:

Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

License: The Clinical Psychologist position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. (NOTE: You must provide a copy of your license with your application package.)

In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Performing bio-psychosocial evaluations for adolescents and/or adults; Developing behavioral health treatment plans for adolescents and/or adults; Providing psychological counseling for adolescent and/or adult patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
