Duties

Help
  • Oversee the learning and development initiatives of the Army Software Factory program.
  • Provide leadership on organizational, programmatic, operational and policy matters pertaining to training programs, strategic initiatives, and activities.
  • Establish policies, procedures, and objectives to ensure that the execution of assigned programs is efficiently and effectively achieved.
  • Liaise with key representatives of military commands and installations, private industry and federal, state, and municipal officials on institutional and unit training and doctrine development programs.
  • Respond to requests for expert opinions and assess the impact of proposed changes on organizational programs and processes.
  • Exercise supervisory control of military and civilian staff assigned to the Learning Office.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
  • This position requires occasional travel up to 15% and may include travel outside the US.
  • This position has been identified as MISSION ESSENTIAL. Employees occupying positions that are essential to Agency operations in closure situations are identified and designated by activity Commanders and Directors.
  • This position requires a one-year supervisory probationary period unless previously completed.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Requirement: You must have successfully completed/achieved a Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position.

You must have a combination of education and experience with includes courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above.

In addition to the education requirement above, you must meet the specialized experience below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Evaluating the overall performance/effectiveness of training operations; 2) developing plans/policies for training programs; and 3) mentoring/guiding subordinate employees and personnel to ensure training mission and goals are accomplished. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-13).

Some Federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

PAY RANGE INCLUDES $125,514-$167,320. THE SELECTEE WILL BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE POSITION IS TRANSITIONED INTO AFC STRL MOD DEMO PAY BAND.
