Help
  • Works across the organization, to lead in planning small to large-scale events.
  • Develops and/or stays current on NASA strategic communication messaging and goals to engage more effectively with the public and enhance public understanding.
  • Plans, initiates, implements, and supports comprehensive communication plans that enhance understanding of agency programs among the public and specialized groups or organizations.
  • Develops, edits, and disseminates agency products on various communication platforms and channels based on Associated Press (AP) Style and NASA Style to the public or specialized target groups domestic and foreign.
  • Maintains internal communications calendars, and drafts, helps coordinate, and distributes communication activities and products internal reports.
  • Establishes and maintains relations with media and serves as an agency spokesperson.
  • Fosters a culture of engagement, diversity, inclusiveness, excellence and innovation. Champions NASA's commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility to create an environment that promotes a commitment to safety, integrity and teamwork.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:

  • Providing data analytics collection, metrics evaluation, and the development of criteria to measure and improve project or program public affairs related activities;
  • Researching data from diverse sources and developing written reports or presentations to recommend changes to programs or procedures for public affairs communications;
  • Identifying, analyzing, and developing communications for recommendations, and or resolving complex program-related problems or issues to improve the organization.
