As a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY) - TITLE 5, GS-0203-7, you will serve as a final reviewer or processor of actions, which may include: research and draft responses to legal and IG inquiries, Evaluation Reports, accessions, promotions, reductions, discharges, transfers, separations, evaluations, promotion eligibility, retirement eligibility, and eligibility of benefits. Ensure regulatory requirements related to specific actions are met. Identify inconsistencies in records and initiate necessary actions. Research and obtain information regarding cases and issues to provide explanations and interpretations of rules, regulations, procedures, and requirements. Prepare correspondence for signature and enter data in automated systems. Process tax refund for reenlistment bonus for soldiers in Combat Zone or Qualified Hazardous Duty Area. Provide support to maintain automated systems and interfaces to manage service members. Review transaction reports for errors, corrects inaccurate data, and resubmits transaction for update to Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) and other databases. Participate in unit Soldier Readiness Processing, and organizational inspection programs. Provide counseling to service member on available benefits; accuracy of contact information and DEERS/RAPIDS information; and assist service members in perform general record reviews. Perform other duties as assigned.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility.

Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least one (1) year experience at the next lower level in the normal line of progression through federal service (GS-05) or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates the knowledge of military personnel administration and related policies, regulations, and procedures. Experience using reference and resource materials. Experience in program functions such as, maintaining personnel records, career counseling, performing researching, reviewing records, compiling information, and preparing reports. Experience operating a computer, utilizing multiple computer programs, and performing keyboard functions. Experience which provided a basic working knowledge of personnel programs.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

(Example: 2 JAN 1980 to 3 MAR 1981; 0800-1630 M-F or JAN 1980 to MAR 1981; 40 hrs/wk) Use of year only and unspecified work schedule will result in disqualification.
