Duties

Help
  • Conducts detailed analytical studies and original analyses of complex Institute problems involving all aspects of operating a multi-mission DOD Language Institute.
  • Maintains necessary surveillance over all institute activities to assure necessary integration, coordination, and administration of the programs.
  • Assures that operational, developmental, processing, production, support, research requirements, and other pertinent factors are considered in solutions of assigned problems and studies.
  • Directs mission-essential major operating program segments of the Institute mission including those of budget, manpower, IT operations and personnel.
  • Studies, analyzes, and develops ways to improve the accuracy, adequacy, timeliness, and validity of administrative, personnel, training, resource management and logistical systems at the Institute.
  • Responsible for disseminating information to Commandant and Directors in order to contribute to the overall effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of organizations structures and mission accomplishment within the Institute.
  • Coordinates, conducts and participates in conferences, meetings, hearings and presentations involving problems or issues of considerable consequence to the Institute and its programs/functions.
  • Plans and develops policies affecting full spectrum support of all Institute operations.
  • Through use of subordinate supervisors, performs, directs, and provides guidance on a number of supervisory duties.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • To obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance is a requirement of this position.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) of 25% may be required for this position.
  • One-year supervisory probationary period may be required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Providing managerial, technical, and administrative direction to a complex and diverse workforce; (2) Managing the full range of programs associated with the development and execution of command programs concerning safety, inspections, public relations, human resources, policy, labor relations, force protection, and training; (3) Developing detailed plans and milestones for complex short and long-range mission programs or directives; and (4) preparing written directives, policy statements, proposals, and other written guidelines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14). To be referred, applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and qualification requirements within 30 days from the date the referral list is issued.

Education
