  • The incumbent is responsible for providing priorities and standard procedures and is relied on to control work operations and accomplish adequate quantity and quality of work.
  • Plans daily, weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates and ensures the schedules are accomplished within set time frames.
  • Selects workers and assigns tasks to be performed.
  • Develops performance standards and makes formal and informal evaluations.
  • Adjusts work plans, assignments, and methods as necessary to accomplish work as effectively and economically as possible.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain State of Hawaii Backflow Preventer Certification within 2 years of employment.
  • Protective devices such as but not limited to ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, harnesses, hard hat and safety shoes is required.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and keep current a valid state driver's license and any installation and / or DoD requirement for the type vehicle being operated.
  • Position requires incumbent to pass a pre-employment and annual physical examination.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Forklift license with 180 days of employment.
  • Mission Essential - Incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations and may be required to remain on duty after the official shift ends.
  • This position requires 10% temporary duty travel (TDY).

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Plumber Supervisor ~ without more than normal supervision: include, plans daily, weekly and monthly work schedules, makes site visits to determine scope of job to be accomplished and plans for work assignments, selects workers and assigns tasks to be performed based upon in-depth expertise of the various types of Plumbing Systems and Backflow Prevention Assemblies (BFPAs), AND performing quality control checks on subordinate workers, identifying problem areas and making recommendations for improvements. I train co-workers in performing all trades work associated with maintenance duties. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. -- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions and where parts of the system are in hard-to-reach places. Frequently lifts and carries items that weigh up to 75 pounds and occasionally handles heavier items, usually with assistance of another person or of mechanical devices. Work is frequently done from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside in all types of weather. The work is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy. Exposed to mud, water, and fumes. Frequently exposed to the possibility of scrapes, burns, and infections from unsanitary work sites. Incumbent has occasional exposure to the possibility of broken bones. Protective devices such as but not limited to ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hard hat, and safety shoes are required. Long trousers or coveralls and shirt or tee shirt with sleeves are worn. Responds to emergency calls after regular working hours
