Duties

As a Senior IT Specialist (INFOSEC) (Direct Hire), you will:

  • Coordinate and work with business system owners (BSO) officials, and Ginnie Mae IT architecture, engineering, network, and operations officials, to determine and document the IT security requirements for applications systems being developed or maintained.
  • Ensure IT security requirements outlined in Executive Orders, OMB memorandums, and or DHS/CISA mandates for IT applications are being or will be met.
  • Maintain or support the inventory of hardware and software within the program development offices.
  • Ensure preparation of security plans for sensitive IT applications, systems and networks.

Key Requirements:

  • Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience:

Specialized experience for the GS-14 grade level is defined as one year of experience at the GS-13 grade level, or equivalent, which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience in ALL of the following:

- Participating in the preparation of System Security and Cybersecurity Plans for financial systems; AND
- Developing information technology policies and procedures for financial systems; AND
- Participating in and supporting cyber cloud security enabling compliance with federal, state, local government, or organizational guidelines, practices, and standards.

Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.

In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Pay will be determined based on the duty location of the position. Remote employees will receive the locality rate associated with the location of their remote worksite.

This position is a remote work position. While work will generally be performed from the employee's approved remote work location, which is often the employee's home, the employee may be required to physically report in person to an agency worksite, training site, community site where work is being performed, or to travel when instructed to do so to meet business needs.
