Help

  • Serves as the Director, Cybersecurity Architecture and Engineering, DCIO and is responsible for planning, designing, and evolving the Department's security architecture.
  • Expert understanding in cybersecurity architecture, zero trust principles, software modernization, cloud computing, networks, enterprise services, network enabled operations, and SoS systems engineering, to include IA, and cyberspace at the DoD-wide/Joint, military services, and agencies.
  • Provides leadership, expert analytical, technical, and investment advice for the development and integration of Department-wide policies, architectures, standards, and programs for security and interoperability of IT and NSS, network-enabled operations, and System-of-Systems (SoS) engineering.
  • Evaluates new capabilities and technical approaches, processes, and policies for IT and NSS networks, enterprise services, network-enabled operations, and Sos systems engineering.
  • Serves as an expert consultant and lead on the DoD Cybersecurity Reference Architecture and Architecture Working Group for advancing and modernizing the Department's architecture.
  • Actively participates in stakeholder architecture working groups and recommends architecture to guide in the identification and development of new cybersecurity architectures.
  • Strengthens alliances between DoD, IC, Federal communities, and Industry in the development and support for cybersecurity architecture.
  • Develops and maintains cybersecurity plans, strategy, and policy for multiple major agency components to support and align with agency cybersecurity initiatives and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
Attention to Detail - experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been responsible for reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards
Customer Service - developing and maintaining relationships with customers, anticipating and assessing the current and future information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products or services that are tailored to meet customer needs
Oral Communication - briefing senior-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of complex technical information to a non-technical audience
Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address unique, highly complex, or sensitive information technology-related issues. I have anticipated information technology-related problems and have identified and evaluated potential sources of information to generate alternative solutions

Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-15, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience in demonstrating and leveraging cybersecurity and enterprise architecture tools to support military operations and missions, leading, designing and conducting comprehensive studies and preparing solutions to execute broad, important and time-sensitive priorities resulting in key organizational change and preparing solutions to especially broad, important, and significant cybersecurity functions, and providing leadership for the successful vetting and integration with existing and anticipated cybersecurity architectures and infrastructure and the evolving cybersecurity digital environment.

  • This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system.
  • If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
  • This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service.
  • A three year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
  • This position is subject to completion of 1 year probationary period for assignment to a supervisory position.
  • Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination
  • Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement.
