Duties

Help

Responsible for the efficient and effective operation of a golf course maintenance program which includes: golf cart fleet repair and management, golf course greens/tees, practice area, ranges, irrigation systems, clubhouse grounds and landscaping, on-course restroom facilities, wooded areas, unused acreage and maintenance vehicles and all ground maintenance equipment. Responsible for facility manager duties for all golf course facilities. Plans all maintenance and project work, applying agronomic and administrative expertise to achieve maintenance standards and long-range goals. Diagnoses deficiencies relative to soil disease, desiccation, winter kill, erosion and impact or error in maintaining a complex mix of soil and plant needs for greens, fairways, roughs, trees, scrubs, foliage, ground covers and ornamentals. Required to manage Irrigation system data and maintain all irrigation systems. Determines proper application of grass seed and/or sprigs, plant nutritional products, plant control products, soil and sand mixtures sufficient to maintain course within regulatory and industry standards. Acquires equipment and purchases necessary supplies to maintain golf course properties. Approves all expenditures and exercises cost control measures designed to ensure operating and capital expenses line with approved budgets. Required to maintain NAF purchase card account for all ground maintenance requirements. Provides expert advice on renovations, improvements, minor and major construction for rebuilding or new construction of greens, bunkers, and tees, additional subterranean irrigation lines, sprinkler heads and additional nursery yardage. Responsible for work force management, recruitment and staff training.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
3-5 years experience progressively responsible in golf course maintenance, provide technical knowledge of turf propagation, cultivation, course equipment, mechanics, irrigation, drainage systems, controls, horticulture, insect'/pest control, various turf diseases, remedies. Requires knowledge of personnel management principles & policies sufficient to supervise ground maintenance staff. Knowledge of grass seeds, sprigs, plant nutritional products, plant control products, soil & sand mixtures. Require knowledge of golf curse construction and golfing techniques. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Requires current state/federal certification license as a pesticide, chemical applicator & manager.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
