Some of the duties include:

  • Analysis and interpretation of samples for numerous research projects on the topics of microbial ecology, biogeochemistry, and environmental health. These projects require expertise in DNA extractions, aerobic and anaerobic culturing methods, PCR assays, as well as bioinformatics for results analysis. Analysis includes running DNA sequencing outputs through bioinformatics pipelines (e.g., mothur, QIIME2, R, and Geneious).
  • Data management, chemical and sample inventory, and the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures.
