  • Duties listed are at the GS-05 level.
  • Supports and assists with a full range of administrative tasks resolving recurring problems. Receives and distributes supplies, mail, etc., in a timely manner.
  • Maintains files in accordance with Federal regulations and agency directives and ensures appropriate documentation is attached.
  • May use database or spreadsheet software to enter, revise, sort, calculate, and retrieve data for reports.
  • Receives visitors and handles calls of a routine nature applicable to the unit.
  • Responds to non-technical requests for information regarding office functions, status of reports, and other information as needed. Difficult, technical, or special questions are referred to the appropriate area.
  • Receives and distributes supplies, mail, etc., in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Basic Qualification Requirements:
For the GS-04 Level:
Applicants must have one year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work which provided the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position being filled;

OR

an associate's degree or two years of successfully completed education above high school;

OR

combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

Qualifying experience is defined as one or more of the following: Clerical, office, or other customer service work such as greeting visitors and responding to phone or written inquiries, using word processing software or other automated software to produce routine documents; or collecting funds from sales.

For the GS-05 Level:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-4 grade level;

OR

a bachelor's degree or 4 years of successfully completed education above high school;

OR

combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

Examples of specialized experience that meet this requirement include meeting two or more of the following: receiving visitors; processing incoming and outgoing correspondence; and maintaining files and records.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP), Reemployment Priority List (RPL) or Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP): To exercise selection priority for this vacancy, CTAP/RPL/ICTAP candidates must meet the basic eligibility requirements and all selective factors. CTAP/ICTAP candidates must be rated and determined to be well qualified (or above) based on an evaluation of the competencies listed in the How You Will Be Evaluated section. When assessed through a score-based category rating method, CTAP/ICTAP applicants must receive a rating of at least 85 out of a possible 100.

Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) provides current or former temporary and term employees the opportunity to compete for permanent competitive service positions. Individuals must have more than 24 months of service without a break between appointments of two or more years and the last temporary or term appointment must have been with the Forest Service. Service must be in the competitive service and have been at a successful level of performance or better. Part-time and intermittent service will be credited only for time actually worked.
