Duties

As a SUPPLY TECHNICIAN (TITLE 32), GS-2005-5/6/7, you will provide services in support of inventory control, storage and distribution, cataloging or supply identification systems, property utilization, or other related supply activities including those associated with automated or manual supply accounting systems.

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:

  • Establish procedures for management of calibration, testing of TMDE, and monitors tool room operations, to include accounting for, issuing and replacing tools.
  • Forecast, justify, prepare, submit, and administer the annual DLR budget request.
  • Review budget reports to ensure returned funds are properly credited to DLR account.
  • Determine proper fund coding, prepare requisitions and forward to source of supply.
  • Assist/perform the Property Book operations in the area of inventory and storage management, and equipment coordination.
  • Maintain property book accountability utilizing an automated or manual supply accounting system.
  • Assure that all authorized property is on hand or has been requisitioned.
  • Schedule, direct and conduct periodic inspections, to insure stock items are serviceable, properly stored, accounted for and maintained.
  • Analyze supply transactions or provide customer service for urgent critical shortage items and items requiring special handling when established procedures are not applicable.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement.   • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:

  • The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
  • The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
  • The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
  • The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
  • The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.


Military Grades: Enlisted/Warrant Officer may not exceed rank of CW3.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess the experience, education, or training in a variety of operations or situations concerned with substance or content of supply actions, requiring ability to decide course of action to take, considering the circumstances or conditions encountered; knowledge of basic or commonly applied rules, procedures, or operations such as, filling out, posting, filing, controlling, or coding documents and/or transactions; experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-07 Level - MUST possess the 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06, knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions applicable to the specific assignment; experience conducting searches for required information; reconstruct records for supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts; experience performing various aspects of supply specialist work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to segments in one or more major areas of supply management; experience which required person-to-person contacts to convey information and ability to compile reports, letters, memoranda, etc. GS-06 Level - MUST possess the 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05, knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions applicable to the specific assignment; experience conducting searches for required information; reconstruct records for supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts; experience performing various aspects of supply specialist work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to segments in one or more major areas of supply management; experience which required person-to-person contacts to convey information and ability to compile reports, letters, memoranda, etc. GS-05 Level - MUST possess the 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04, demonstrated knowledge of standardized supply regulations, policies, procedures, or other instructions relating to the specific functions assigned; experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more automated supply databases to enter and retrieve recurring reports; experience using working knowledge of the structure of a supply organization and the organizations serviced.
