The National Counterterrorism Center's Directorate of Intelligence (NCTC/DI) seeks a motivated officer to lead a high-performing team of officers in a group working to combat terrorism in Asia and Africa. The group is charged with providing regional and functional analysis on threats to Africa and Asia. The DI has an expansive mission that requires a rigorous approach to analysis and collaboration across the Intelligence Community. Aspiring candidates will be at the forefront of NCTC's efforts to provide the highest quality strategic analysis on the most important counterterrorism topics.

Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to:

Provide expert guidance and leadership to multiple teams in the production of well-crafted sophisticated, complex analytic finished intelligence products on sometimes controversial or particularly difficult issues in support of United States (US) foreign policy and national security objectives; review final analytic products, written and oral, for clarity, organization, accuracy, and logic; effectively explain highly complex concepts and results to non-expert customers and tailor products to correspond to customer needs.

Provide intellectual leadership and strategic direction for the division, manage the flow of taskings, and encourage teamwork and collaboration with counterparts throughout NCTC, ODNI, and the IC.

Mentor and develop analysts of varying experience levels and evaluate the performance of analysts from different career services, each with its own unique expectations, opportunities, and performance review systems.

Help drive the group's analytic program, ensuring that products incorporate the highest IC tradecraft standards and capitalize on NCTC's unique data accesses and tools.

Recruit, develop, and retain a diverse and highly qualified workforce.

Ensure personnel are appropriately challenged, rewarded, and given the support, tools, training, and opportunities they need to develop and succeed.

Cultivate an inclusive environment that fosters the development of all officers to their full potential.

Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements:

Superior knowledge of analytic tradecraft and strong product review skills.

Proven superior interpersonal skills, corporate approach, and aptitude at building consensus.

Expert ability to think strategically and plan and execute a plan of analysis for a team.

Broad experience successfully mentoring or developing analysts.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Set priorities and drive programs to ensure senior Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) officials are prepared for policy meetings throughout the Intelligence Community (IC) and US Government (USG). [required language]

Superior ability to remain open-minded and change judgments on the basis of new information and requirements, perform multiple tasks and change focus quickly as demands change, and support group decisions and solicit opinions from coworkers.

At least five years of experience in all-source analysis at a national intelligence agency, federal law enforcement organization, service component, or combatant command. [objective/quantitative requirement]

Desired Requirements:

Prior work experience or advanced academic study on counterterrorism issues, foreign terrorist organizations, radicalization, terrorism prevention programming, or regional issues in the Americas, Europe, or Eurasia.

Experience as a first-line analytic supervisor.

Knowledge of the counterterrorism community.

Education

Bachelor's Degree.

Job Interview Travel: Candidates from outside the Washington, D.C. area may be selected for a telephone, teleconference, or in-person interview.

Salary Determination: A current Federal Government employee, selected for a detail, will be assigned to the position at their current grade and salary.
