Duties

As a Supervisory IT Specialist (CUSTSPT), you will:

  • Serve as a senior advisor to the OIG executive-level relating to high visibility efforts to modernize and streamline end user tools, messaging, and collaboration services across the enterprise.
  • Provide supervisory functions such as: Planning, directing, controlling, and supervising the day-to-day IT operations, providing restoration of IT services, owning and managing IT incidents through their lifecycle, and providing thorough and effective communication to end users and management.
  • Ensure that assigned staff have robust processes in place to track and analyze trends in IT requests and generate statistical reports; assess needs for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant) based on request trends and make recommendations.
  • Apply business requirements of customer organizations; systems development principles and approaches; and project management methods sufficient to lead IT systems development projects from design to support; evaluate the effectiveness of installed systems and services; and provide advice on and devise solutions to a wide range of IT issues.
  • Apply project management principles and practices to plan, organize, develop, and oversee multiple, concurrent IT projects related to a broad range of diverse IT functional areas.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

To be qualified for this position at the GS-15 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Specialized experience includes:

- Planning, directing, controlling, supervising, and modernizing the day-to-day IT operations; AND
- Providing thorough and effective communication to end users and management; AND
- Coordinating and collaborating with the CIO and cross-directorate stakeholders in managing comprehensive IT and data activities and initiatives.


In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
