This position is located in the Office of the Senior Deputy Chair, National Endowment for the Arts. The Chief Diversity Officer is a senior level position responsible for advancing the commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) in all dimensions of agency policy and practice. Core components of the role include:

-Developing, coordinating and monitoring relevant strategies, policies, and plans; cultivating internal and external partnerships.

-Leading and supporting engagement and communication in support of DEIA objectives.

-Using a thorough understanding of the Agency's overall day-to-day operations, including collaboration with strategy, programs, and partnerships, human resources, legal, and civil rights and equal employment opportunity, as well as its mission, goals, and objectives

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

GS-15: You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-14 grade level performing the following duties:

1) Leading and supporting engagement and communication in support of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) objectives;

2) Working across an organization to ensure principles of DEIA are embedded in all business operations and external programming; and

3) Maintaining a robust understanding of best practices in DEIA in the arts and cultural sectors or related sectors, such as humanities, education, nonprofit, social justice, and community development.

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the advertised grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
