Summary

This Internship will begin Summer 2024.

This position is located in the Division of Insurance and Research, Headquarters of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support in the areas of projects related to enhancing the Corporation's programs for identifying, monitoring, and addressing existing and emerging aggregate risks to the Corporation's deposit insurance funds.

  • Performs research and compiles financial and economic information related to existing and emerging risks to the Corporation's deposit insurance funds.
  • Maintains and updates various office files to include work papers, data files, and records.
  • Use various computer software (e.g., spreadsheet, database, presentation, mapping, design, and economic) to extract data and generate reports to support staff.

Qualifications

You must meet the eligibility and qualifications by the closing date of the announcement.

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To be found eligible for this program, applicants must: (1) be enrolled or accepted for enrollment at a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis; (2) have a minimum cumulative (overall) GPA of 2.50 out of 4.0; and (3) be in good academic standing. Education requirements are established by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and must be met by close of announcement. Below are the requirements by grade:

CG-04 level: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree; OR have 1 year of general experience performing economic research or related work that involves collecting, compiling, verifying, analyzing or reporting data; OR have a combination of education and experience: equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

Combination of Education and Experience - Your current education completed is credited as a percentage of the education required for the grade level and your current experience is credited as a percentage of the total experience required for the grade level. The two percentages are added and must equal 100% in order to qualify for the desired grade level.

An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university.

Interns will be offered a salary at the base pay for the grade and location in which they are qualified and selected:

Atlanta, GA - $41,119 | San Francisco, CA $50,545 | New York, NY $46,655 | Washington, DC $44,436

This appointment may be extended if interns continues to meet all educational and pathways requirements.

Selectee(s) for this position will be required to report to their duty station office at least 1 day per pay period beginning January 2, 2024, and at their supervisor’s direction to support mission and project needs. In person reporting requirements are expected to increase in July 2024.
