Duties

Help
  • Serves as Protocol Officer and Public Affairs Liaison for the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center-Lima (JSMC-L), a Government Owned-Contractor Operated (GOCO) Army manufacturing facility.
  • Plans, designs and executes the protocol and public affairs programs to include: ceremonies, conferences, official social command functions, foreign and high-level domestic visits, social media management and media/community communications/relations.
  • Maintains close coordination with the protocol offices at Army Material Command (AMC), Dept. of the Army (DA), Dept. of Defense (DoD) and other services to exchange information and coordinate events.
  • Prepares read ahead material, informational papers, executive summaries and after-action reports evaluating effectiveness of arrangements and proposed recommendations for future functions.
  • Assures that arrangements and details are tailored to fit the needs of each case, considering the particulars of the visitor's country, position, culture and diplomatic code.
  • Provides detailed walking tours of a large industrial complex, describing the related industrial capabilities, production programs, and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Overseeing the planning and execution of official or social events/functions for an organization/Command; (2) Creating briefings, presentations, memoranda and/or reports to ensure programs and initiatives are accurately met; (3) Communicating (verbally and written) with senior level leaders/staff within an organization and/or with external customers in order to maintain a schedule of events for an organization; and (4) Assisting with the development of written and/or visual content for use on various media platforms. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this grade level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
